Sugar wars by: Veronica Majerol is about how the size of a drink gets bigger and bigger every couple years it’s also about how in America the obesity rate is very high and how the tax on sugary drinks should go up. This article includes quotes from the mayor of New Jersey and professors from colleges. “obesity is a nationwide problem” said mayor Bloomberg. I didn’t know obesity was as big of an deal. One quote that stood out to me was “we know that people die from bad consumption pattern” this stands out to me because it’s like people don’t  care about their health and that their trying to change public norms. I think that they should stop trying to make the drinks bigger because the price goes up and its not healthy for the drinks to be that big because its more sugar that will be in them. This article reminds me of when I went to wendys and my aunt asked for a small and her small was big and she said are you sure that this is a small and it was. This article makes me think a lot more on this topic and how the size of the drink could affect a lot of people. It makes me think that people in this society is very selfish they just want to make money and not care about anyone’s health issues. This article makes me wonder why things change constantly and why people who are unhealthy continue to buy unhealthy things.

  1. So do you agree with NYC's attempt to ban large portions of surgery beverages? Or do you think people should be able to buy what they want? 80
